CREATIVE LEADERSHIP, ARTIST  DEVELOPMENT  AND ADVICE

I have extensive experience supporting musicians, artists, performers and educators working across the performing arts and creative industries.

My work spans professional development, creative leadership and advisory support, helping people not only to develop their careers and creative practice, but also to navigate the relationships, decisions and challenges that come with working professionally in collaborative environments.

Alongside coaching and advisory work, I can also work with artists in a more embedded leadership and development capacity, supporting strategy, professional relationships, opportunities, communication and longer-term career direction.

For some clients, this develops into a broader advisory, management or representative relationship. I might act as a sounding board for key decisions, help shape career strategy, navigate professional relationships, support or facilitate communication with collaborators or organisations, identify opportunities, make introductions, or help hold the bigger picture of someone’s creative and professional direction.

I see this as a highly individual relationship: part advisor, part strategist, part advocate and, where appropriate, part creative manager. The exact shape depends on the person, their work and what they need.

Creative Leadership & Advisory

I work with individuals and teams around the people-facing and strategic aspects of creative work, including:

+ leadership and professional confidence

+ communication and difficult conversations

+ boundaries and expectations

+ collaboration and professional relationships

+ navigating conflict or challenging working dynamics

+ decision-making and perspective

+ managing change and uncertainty

+ leadership style and self-awareness

+ creating healthier and more sustainable ways of working

My approach combines mentoring, coaching, strategic thinking and extensive first-hand experience across music, theatre, education and the wider creative industries.

I also support artists around the practical and professional side of engagements, including advocacy, clarifying expectations and agreements, preparing for important conversations, and creating greater clarity around fees, advances, schedules and responsibilities.

The aim is to help artists approach gigs and professional relationships with greater confidence, transparency, safety and accountability.

Creative Practice and Professional Development

I provide guidance, mentorship and consultancy supporting artists, creatives, performers and educators with:

+ refining professional direction

+ developing career strategy and action plans

+ developing professional identity
+ increasing industry visibility
+ creating sustainable careers
+ building a business or portfolio career

+ generating and developing ideas
+ making decisions and identifying next steps
+ facilitating connections with other professionals

I am always keen to hear from talented people who want to develop their work, strengthen their professional practice or navigate a particular challenge.

For the past ten years, I have worked with performers, artists, musicians, creative practitioners, educators, facilitators and leaders on professional direction, strategy, confidence, identity and developing a stronger sense of self within their work.

Some of the approaches and resources I regularly use include:

+ reflective frameworks and structures

+ clear and achievable action plans

+ goal-setting, deadlines and accountability

+ professional and personal working guidelines

+ tailored support around casting and auditions, branding, business development and career strategy

My 1:1 work is always personal and bespoke. Not every approach works for every person, so I adapt the way I work to the individual, their circumstances and what is most likely to be useful, effective and impactful for them.

I am always keen to hear from talented people who want to develop their work, strengthen their professional practice, navigate a particular challenge, or explore a more ongoing advisory, leadership or management relationship.
