I can provide individual academic support for students studying at BA (Hons) and Masters level, particularly those working within performing arts, creative practice, education and practice-research.
 

I regularly work with students undertaking dissertations, independent research projects, reflective portfolios, practice-research enquiries and other substantial pieces of academic or creative work.
 

This might include support with:

+ developing and refining a research question

+ shaping ideas into a clear and manageable project

+ structuring dissertations and written assignments

+ connecting theory, research and creative practice

+ understanding practice-research methodologies

+ developing critical and reflective writing

+ finding a stronger academic voice

+ planning and managing larger projects

+ working through feedback and identifying next steps

+ building confidence around academic writing and research

+ creating realistic timelines, milestones and accountability

+ preparing for tutorials, presentations or assessment

I am particularly interested in supporting creative practitioners who may feel confident in their artistic or professional practice but less certain when translating that experience into academic language. My approach is to help students recognise the knowledge already embedded within their practice and develop the tools to articulate, interrogate and contextualise it academically.
 

I also understand that academic work can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when students are balancing study alongside professional practice, employment or other commitments.

My role is not to do the work for someone, but to provide structure, perspective, challenge and encouragement so that they can move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
 

Support is always tailored to the individual and might involve a single session around a particular piece of work or an ongoing series of tutorials across a dissertation, research project or period of study.
